The de_dust2 map is one of the oldest and, perhaps, most popular in the Counter-Strike series. It is a direct development of de_dust, which appeared in the original CS and instantly won popular love. In the Global Offensive from CS 1.6, the location migrated to its original form, having undergone only cosmetic changes. The most notable of these are the boxes and other shelters in many places have been lowered to make it harder for players to sit out safely. Many consider de_dust2 to be the most balanced in terms of opportunities for the opposing sides. You can also use the csgo.net site for some additional tools.
Structure
de_dust2 is great for beginners. It clearly demonstrates the basic principles of CS: GO and is structurally simple. There are no features inherent in Vertigo or Nuke, which require tactics that are not applicable on other maps. de_dust2 is divided into four main areas:
- Center (mid) – a long open alley in the middle of the map. Snipers adore her. Both teams reach the center in a few seconds, and terrorists, even from the starting point, do not need to leave to take aim at the zone;
- Tunnels for terrorists (west on the map) are on the left, leading directly to point B and simplifying the route to the center;
- The long passage for the “terrorists” is on the right and leads to point A. It is called “100 meters” because of its length. The attackers first need to overcome the passage, fenced off on both sides by ajar gates, and then also turn around the corner into the territory of the special forces;
- Short passage – a small branch in the central part. Having crossed over a kind of bridge, there is a great chance to quickly find yourself at “B”, but the risk of catching a bullet also increases due to the abundance of convenient positions for defense.
Points features
De_dust2 matches are played in bomb refusal mode. The bomb sites on de_dust2 are very different from each other. Point A is a large open area where it is almost impossible to hide. During an assault, snipers often try to cross the bridge from a short passage, because this way they will have the entire bookmark zone at gunpoint. It is more difficult to enter from a long passage, since the place of detonation is on a hill. The defenders get out of the fire using the difference in altitude. They retreat a step back and there they can no longer be reached.
“B” is a completely different story. Its area is closed from all sides, and only three passages lead inside. One of them, a breach in the wall, stands out in that it serves as a sniper position during defense, and during an attack it allows you to catch the enemy by surprise. It is extremely easy to defend on “B”, but it is not so easy for terrorists to break through here. The tunnel leading to the point is remarkably shot from the farthest corner. Blinding and smoke grenades are indispensable.
Gameplay basics
On de_dust2 there are three main paths to enemy territory, connected to the central alley. It is best for beginners to attack through the tunnels. Yes, the enemy has an advantageous position for defense there, but you also have enough room to maneuver. If you fail to break through to “B”, you can retreat to the center and try to bypass the enemy from the rear.
This is de_dust2. It’s not as cunning as the later creations of the developers, but it embodies the basic tactical aspects of Counter-Strike. Having decided to take your first steps along the streets of the iconic map, study it thoroughly. This experience will be useful to you in other achievements.
